In the beginning of Slayers Try, he appears to be ally of Valgarv.  After discussion with the Chiefs of the Golden Dragons, he reveals that he is a being from another world, in search of five weapons.  Although he and Valgarv are helping each other, they each have their own goal.  Alumace's is to use the light weapons to split the power of Dark Star, the Mazoku Lord of his world.
